Signed David Villa Shirt Raffle
Since last summer the club has been selling raffle tickets to win a framed Barcelona FC shirt signed by David Villa. This is a pretty unique prize and tickets were initally on sale at £5 each.
The current position was reviewed at the last club meeting and in a bid to boost sales and give everyone a chance to enter, raffle tickets are now on sale for £1!
If you have bought tickets at the previous price of £5 then your single ticket has been turned into 5 tickets. The full details are available here with the original ticket number listed with the owner and then the additional numbers that have been allocated to you. Please check this document <here> as a matter of urgency and if there is any issue please contact the treasurer to resolve.
Tickets will remain on sale up to and on the presentation day. You can buy them by visiting the Academy on Saturday morning between 11-1230 or on the presentation day itself.
They don't like to talk about it but..........
there are some notable charity escapades being undertaken over the next few months.....

Hike to Base Camp Everest
In April this year Eric is taking part in a hike to the Base Camp of Everest. Flying from Heathrow on 15 April into Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal) via Delhi. There will be a short two day stop before a flight into Lukla, which is an airstrip created on the side of Mount Everest itself. This is at 7,000ft/2,133 metres altitude. There's a one night stop here to begin the acclimatisation.

Then the hard work starts!
Eric will be trekking over deep ravines, gorges and valleys, through forests of rhododendron, magnolia and fir. Passing a number of Buddhist monasteries and after two days arriving at the last human settlement of any size; Namche Bazaar. This is the sherpa capital. Walking takes place 6-7 hrs per day, with occasional stops (two days) put in to assist acclimatisation-this is critical as altitude sickness (which can kill if it takes a grip), can ensue.
Overnight stays are in very basic accommodation known as teahouses. Around the 25th April Base Camp Everest (BCE) will be reached. This is at 17,600 feet / 5,364 metres altitude (more than 3 miles above sea level!)
BCE itself is based on the Khumbu icefall. A glacier which can be heard creaking and groaning as massive slabs of ice work their way downwards. There will also be international teams assembled and waiting here as they prepare for an assault on the summit.
A view of Everest can only be achieved by climbing to Kala Pattar which is a natural viewing spot, and marks the highest elevation of the trek at 18,200 feet / 5,547metres altitude. After this it's a return to BCE, and a start to the trek down, with the help of some of the Sherpa's Special Brew. Upon return to Lukla 80 miles will have been covered. Then a short hop to Kathmandu, and fly back home from Delhi arriving back into Heathrow on 2 May.
Eric is supporting GRIPPERS, with the trip fully self supported all money raised goes direct to the charity. You can support Eric and GRIPPERS here.

London to Paris Bike Ride
In June this year Tony and nine work colleagues are undertaking the Londn to Paris bike ride to raise money for three important charities: The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), Royal British Legion, and Prince's Trust.

They are, in their own words, a rag tag bunch of ten hardy non-and sometimes-cyclists who have persuaded their employer, Atkins, to let them out for a few days to raise money for charity.
Wiggo, Froomey and Cav have nothing to worry about - they won't be challenging them for speed but they will playing on their turf, as they will finish their escapade after 300 gruelling miles on the Champs Elysee!
