Energy Drinks and Children in the news again.....

Over the last couple of years Leckhampton Rovers FC has been supporting a move to inform all who are involved with the club that energy drinks are not only not needed by children playing sport but may also be harmful. Drinks that contain high levels of caffeine, sugar and salt that are not necessary for children playing sport.

Leckhampton Rovers FC has sought to be a "no-energy drink club" whilst recognising that it is ultimately a personal choice. The anecdotal evidence has been excellent with managers and parents supporting the move.

We first published this onto our website in November 2012 with the link to an LA Times article. This was followed by an email campaign via the team managers to pass on this message. There was then interest from Quedgely FC and Bishops Cleeve FC

Today there is more on this subject with the BBC Newsround website carrying a story about energy drinks being banned in schools. A topic that Marcus Bosano, manager of the Leckhampton Rovers FC U14 Cougars will be participating in a discussion on as part of the BBC Radio Gloucestershire Drive Time show today between 5-6pm.
